Meet artist Maya Moretti
Hello friends,
Thanks for journeying to the depths of my art/mind. Here's a little about me and the recent things I've been making -
My recent works are deeply influenced by the human body and interpersonal connections. I am captivated by how small treasures or trash can fit together to create a sculpture or an installation. My art demands a certain chaos; the dirt and grime when working with metal, or the piles of fabric when working with textiles, give me a rush of wild freedom.
Sculpting is a way for my memories & feelings to become tangible; a way to revisit things from another perspective. By re-homing stories and memories of people in my sculptures, it lets them become physically suspended in time and space.
-
So, if you made it this far thank you so much for looking and witnessing the weird wild things I enjoy creating.

Origin Stories
My earliest memory making art is from preschool—working with my classmates on a giant paper mache whale. It was sticky, messy, and seemed to take forever, but I loved every second of it. When I was 10, my dad built me an art shed in the backyard. It became my little sanctuary, where I painted, played, and began to truly fall in love with creating things. Over the years my artistic expressions took many forms- I became a band geek, graduated culinary school, catered, made gourmet cakes, became a yoga teacher, a coach, a jeweler...
Until I finally found my way back to mixed media art though making little crystal bracelets a few years ago.
This photo is when it all began for me- so incredibly inspired to make art others wear and witness.

Mobiles
Installation progress photo of 4 different metal mobiles. A milestone in my journey of being witnessed in large spaces. Deeply inspired by my childhood experiences and how time and motion changes perspective.

- a foot away / a foot more
- the pitterpatter feet sound on the ground
- the foot book
- tread album (w the sticker in u shoe)
- that pic of his foot he sent me so long ago that was so gross but changed everythin
- old feet
- swim feet
-i know i closed the door before but i wanna open it again, so did i get my foot in?
